Do I need special training?
No training needed! This practice is accessible to everyone. Simply stop whatever you're doing, look around with curiosity, and go forward with awareness.

In our distraction-filled world, stopping creates the space needed for awareness. Without this pause, we miss opportunities for gratitude hidden in everyday moments. It's the foundation that makes everything else possible.

Use all your senses to observe. The light through a window, sounds around you, the feeling of your breath. Look for small opportunities: a person's kindness, the comfort of shelter, or simply being alive in this moment.

Respond authentically to what you've noticed. Savor a moment of joy, express thanks to someone, perform a small kindness, or simply carry your awareness forward. Let your action flow naturally from your observation.
Stop.Look.Go is a simple three-step gratitude practice developed by Brother David Steindl-Rast. It helps you pause, notice the present moment with all your senses, and respond with gratitude—even during challenging times.
The practice can take anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. There's no fixed duration, you decide how long to spend in each step based on what feels right in the moment.
Start small with just once or twice daily. Use natural transitions like entering your car, unlocking your door, or hearing an alarm as reminders. Consistency matters more than frequency when building this habit.
Absolutely. This practice isn't about ignoring challenges. Even in hardship, you can be grateful for the gift of being alive and present to your experience.
That's completely normal. Set gentle reminders on your phone or place visual cues in spaces you frequent. The practice itself teaches patience—even forgetting is part of the journey.
Start by noticing three ordinary things—the warmth of sunlight, the taste of water, or the ability to breathe. Gratitude grows with practice, not force.
